Simoco acquired the mobile radio activities
from Philips (UK) in 1996. The company, a
leader in R&D, manufacture and implementation
of state of the art professional mobile communication
products and systems, had representation in
a large number of countries globally. As Philips
the company was instrumental in the development
of non-proprietary MPT1327 systems & TETRA
Digital Trunking Systems.
Simoco in India inherited more than 25 years
experience in the mobile radio industry as
Webel Telecom (WTI) and Philips Telecom, based
in Kolkata, traditionally manufacturing and
supplying mobile communications products to
various mission-critical users, such as the
Police, Paramilitary, Public Safety, Utilities,
Electricity and the Railways in India.
As a result of various technology transfers
a wide range of mobile state of the art communication
products have been steadily introduced for
manufacture in the modern Kolkata factory
at Salt Lake. Currently it is the only ISO
9001 accredited manufacturing company for
Private/Professional Mobile Radio (PRM) products
in India.

Associate Companies and is continuously
enhancing its product portfolio through technology
transfer and product supply.
