Dispatcher functions are accessed via a user-friendly GUI (Graphical User Interface) and include many of the TETRA services relevant to an operational dispatch environment, such as creating Groups, initiating Broadcasts etc. In addition to standard monitoring functions, the T-MATRIX™ Dispatcher can discreetly monitor individual calls either between TETRA subscribers or between a TETRA subscriber and an external user (e.g. a telephone subscriber connected via a Telephone Gateway ).
The Dispatcher system is inherently flexible and may be set up to handle calls in accordance with the prevailing management policies. For example a Dispatcher may be:
- The first point of contact for emergency calls
- The first point of contact for calls from the public via PABX or PSTN
This flexibility extends to the defined functionality available to individual Dispatcher users. For example, an ?administrator? can have rights to manage subscribers and groups plus full monitoring facilities, while ?standard? access may have only communication rights. On logging in to the Dispatcher, the command operator is presented with a list of all ongoing calls between those TETRA subscribers that are within the administrative control of that operator.
The Distributed T-MATRIX™ software architecture allows connection of a Dispatcher anywhere within the TETRA network. The Groups assigned to an operator can be spread across multiple sites, with the possibility of the same TETRA subscriber or groups of subscribers being monitored at multiple operator positions.
